travel | (I’m goin’ back home to the) West Coast

Christine and I went on an epic road trip to California and back last week. (Aside: the word epic is surely overused these days, but I feel like it is appropriate to use it here given the amount of driving we did, and the number of things and places we were able to see in the course of ten days). Originally, I suggested the trip to coincide with attending IMATS LA, but the plan quickly changed when I realized a) I didn’t want to spend that much money on makeup right now, and b) it would be more fun to use that time to see more people and places (and eat and drink more things).

Most of my photos are up on my Instagram already, though I’m sure I have more that will go up over the next little while, either here (because I should probably use this space for something; I do pay for the hosting after all) or on Instagram/Flickr. You can see all of both of our photos by going to #YVR3LAX on Instagram.

Society 6

I’ve started posting some of my photos and other images on Society 6, a site which produces and ships products for artists. They obviously take a cut, and you don’t make much on the products that I think are the most popular (iPhone cases and laptop skins), but hey, it’s something. It’s also gotten me playing with Photoshop more and teaching myself some graphic design. AND someone just purchased one of my designs on an iPhone case!

If you like the look of any of my designs and want to make a purchase, you can get free shipping until October 14 at midnight by going here.

live | PEAK Performance Project Bootcamp Showcases

Our biggest project at Music BC is the PEAK Performance Project. For the past week, we’ve been up at Rockridge Canyon running the Bootcamp portion of the project, putting the Top 20 artists/bands through their paces.

While here I’ve had the opportunity to shoot all the live showcases. Each band played a 20 minute set to an audience of their peers, the faculty and the camp staff. Having now seen all the bands at their best, I can definitely say that all of the Red Room showcases this fall will be fantastic.

This year’s PPP Top 20 are:

Georgia Murray

band photos | beekeeper

Vancouver post-pop band beekeeper asked me to take some new promo photos over the weekend. This week they’re off on a mini Western Canada tour, stopping in Kelowna, Fernie, Calgary and Swift Current, and ending with their 7″ single release show at The Media Club. They also put together a playlist for Vancouver Is Awesome, and my photo is up there as well.

Click through to check out their website and tunes. See the full post for more photos!

portraits | bike month

June was Bike Month in Vancouver and so BeatRoute decided to do an article about different kinds of cyclists in Vancouver. Through the magic of Twitter I was able to find some lovely friends and acquaintances to be my bike models for the article. Unfortunately, it was never published, but the photos turned out so well that I feel like they should be seen. Here’s a few of my favourites (more may appear at a later date, when I find time to go back through my archives).
